About Accra Life

Accra Life is a free life sim you play in your phone's browser. Every player lives in the same Accra, on the same clock, at the same time.

One city, shared by everyone

There is one Accra, and every player lives in it. The economy, the land and the businesses are shared. What one player does can reach another: you trade, hire and work for each other, rent rooms to each other, visit each other's homes when invited, and meet on the street.

The city is four areas, each a small slice of the real streets: Madina, Osu and its shoreline, East Legon, and Makola in Central Accra. Streets, markets, stations and landmarks carry their real names. Every business and institution in the game has an invented name.

Born into it

You choose how you look. You do not choose what you are born into. When your life starts, a roll with no re-roll decides your background:

Your background changes the cost, the risk and the difficulty of a path, never the permission. A dbee can fall, and an ante naa can rise.

Time is real

The world clock is real Accra time, the same for everyone. There is no pause, no fast-forward and no skip. Eating, washing and sleeping take real seconds; a work shift, a trip across town or a course takes its real set time.

Your character ages only while you play. Each year of age takes three and a half hours of play, so a full life from 18 to old age is a long one, and someone who plays less is never punished for it.

Choices have consequences

Slow money takes real time: a job, a trade, an apprenticeship, a degree, a business, land. Fast money carries real risk. Crime and betting are in the game because they are part of real life, and they come with what follows them: police attention, arrest, court, prison that runs in real time, and a record that stays. Betting odds are honest, which means the house wins over time. They are never the smart way to play.

Fair by design

Every result that matters, from money and items to every dice roll and how long anything takes, is decided on our servers, never on a player's phone. New characters are protected while they find their feet, theft between players is capped, and anyone can block or report another player. Moderators answer reports, and a player is always told what was decided and for how long.

How it sounds

Accra Life speaks English with Pidgin and Twi slang, the way people in Accra actually talk. It aims to be grounded and realistic: no satire, no caricature.

Accra Life is a work of fiction for adults 18 and over. It does not portray real people, businesses or events, and nothing in it is real-life advice.
