Questions and answers

The things new players ask most. For the basics of playing, start with how to play.

What is Accra Life?

A free life sim set in Accra, Ghana. Every player lives in the same city on the same clock. You are born rich or poor, start at 18 and live a whole life in real time.

Is it free?

Yes. The game is free to play. Buying in-game cedis is optional, capped each day and each week, and nothing in the game is locked behind it.

What do I need to play?

A phone or computer with a web browser and an internet connection. There is nothing to install. The game is made for a phone held upright.

Who can play?

Adults 18 and over. Accra Life is a work of fiction that includes crime, drugs, an illegal weapons trade and gambling, each with its consequences, and you confirm your age before you play.

Can I choose to be born rich?

No. You choose how you look, but your background is a roll with no re-roll: dbee (born wealthy) or ante naa (born poor). Background changes the cost and the risk of each path, never whether you may take it.

Can I pause the game or speed it up?

No. There is one shared clock, real Accra time, for every player. Actions take real seconds and longer activities take their real set time.

Does my character get older while I am away?

No. Your character ages only while you play. Each year of age takes three and a half hours of play.

What happens when I log off?

Your character stays in the city and follows the routine you set. A set job is worked while you are away, and you get a summary of what happened when you return. An offline character cannot be stolen from.

Can I turn game money into real money?

No. Cedis in the game, whether cash, MoMo or in the bank, are game money. They have no value outside the game and cannot be cashed out.

Is crime a good way to get rich?

No. Crime and betting are in the game because they are part of real life, and they bring police attention, arrest, court, prison in real time and a permanent record. Betting odds are honest, so over time the house wins.

How do I stay safe from other players?

New characters are protected from crime for their first hours, theft between players is capped, and your home's door opens only to people you let in. You can block anyone and report a player, a message or a post; moderators read every report.

What happens if I break the rules?

A moderator can warn, mute, suspend or ban an account. Each sanction has a reason from a fixed list, can be lifted, and you are always told what happened and for how long.

How do I contact Accra Life?
